How are franchises awarded?
New York NY Fresh Deli franchises are awarded on an individual store-by-store basis. Multiple locations are awarded based upon your background, prior experience and adherence to the New York NY Fresh Deli System.
Will my restaurant be granted an exclusive territory?
Every New York NY Fresh Deli franchised restaurant is granted an exclusive territory in which another New York NY restaurant will not be placed, whether franchised or company owned.
What is the initial franchise fee?
The initial franchise fee for a New York NY Fresh Deli is $17,500. Additional franchises, if you are approved, are at the reduced rate of $15,000.
How much does it cost to open a restaurant?
The average initial investment to open a single New York NY Fresh Deli restaurant ranges from approximately $116,760 to $219,190. These costs include franchise fee, rental lease deposits, leasehold improvements, fixtures and equipment, miscellaneous supplies, opening inventory, initial advertising, signs and working capital.
What kind of location will I need?
The typical restaurant should be located in a high traffic Major Shopping Center or a “Power Mall” either with strong visability and "A" type co-tenants. Free standing build-to-suit locations will also be considered . The typical size of a restaurant will be approximately 1,200 to 2,000 square feet. Care should be exercised in Mall Food Courts, but locations will be considered depending upon the co-tenants and the Mall itself.
Why did we change our name from the original New York Subs Fresh Deli to New York NY Fresh Deli?
We feel the more cosmopolitan New York NY Fresh Deli name along with our expanded and enhanced menu sets us apart from the “lower level fast-food sandwich chains”. We are a quick casual restaurant concept set within an enhanced and upscale environment. And although we offer delicious New York Style Hot Subs we also offer Gourmet Hot and Cold Sandwiches, Salads and other upscale items. The name New York NY Fresh Deli more correctly identifies our concept.
Is financing available?
If qualified, outside providers offer lease purchase programs for most of the equipment needed to operate a New York NY Fresh Deli restaurant. Bank and SBA loan finance programs have also been utilized by financially qualified franchises to finance their restaurants.
Where will I buy my equipment and store fixtures?
We assist each Franchisee in the selection of the required fixtures and equipment for their restaurant. Most equipment and fixtures will be purchased from Franchise Equipment Supply, LLC an affiliated company.
What is the royalty fee?
The royalty fee is 6% of weekly sales receipts, not including sales taxes.
How about advertising?
Building regional and national recognition of the New York NY Fresh Deli name and reputation is an essential objective of the System. Each store expends a minimum of 2% on local advertising in their local markets using approved materials
What is the term of the Franchise Agreement?
The initial term of each Franchise Agreement is ten years and may be renewed for additional terms for so long as you comply with the terms and conditions of the agreement. There are no additional initial franchise fees charged upon renewal.
How do I go about selecting a location?
Company representatives and/or your local Area Development Agent will provide you with assistance and advice to help guide you towards the right type of sites. Every site is reviewed based upon various demographics such as general population density, income and age levels, traffic patterns, available parking, ingress and egress to the site and the proximity of the location to other business, restaurants and “traffic generators”.
Where may I locate my restaurant?
The Company or your Area Development Agent will assist you according to available areas and the development plan for the marketing area desired.
Will I receive training from the Company?
Yes. New York New York Franchising Corp. provides an initial training program at our headquarters in Arizona.
In addition, a qualified Company representative or Area Development Agent will provide hands-on training assistance in the initial opening of your store, at your location, for you and your employees.
How about continuing guidance and assistance?
In addition to your initial home office training and local opening assistance, you will receive ongoing operational support through qualified operations personnel, periodic publications and information or bulletins which spotlight certain aspects of our business. Your Area Development Agent will also visit and consult with you with useful advice and counsel on such System elements as product quality, customer service, advertising and promotions, training, communication, and other business information to assist you.
Where do I purchase my inventory and supplies?
New York New York Franchising, Inc. uses industry know-how to assist in the negotiation of supplier agreements for all franchisees. The Company does not receive any mark-up on food products that you purchase from your suppliers. Approved products are supplied nationally by major food suppliers such as Sysco Food Services.
Can I sell my franchise?
Yes. This is your business and you can sell it if you wish, however a new buyer must be approved by the Company. There is a transfer fee for administrative, legal, and training expenses that affect the transfer. Terms and conditions of store transfers are covered in your Franchise Agreement.
How long will it take me to get my New York NY Fresh Deli franchise open?
This depends on several variables, selecting a favorable location for your business, arranging financing if necessary, completing training and the like. Usually though, you should be able to be in business in as little as 90 days after your site is selected.
I would like to review the Franchise Agreement. Can I get one?
Our Franchise Agreement and other documentation have been developed at great expense to the Company, which we do not indiscriminately distribute.
Normally, the documents are delivered to you by our representative upon completion of a personal meeting with you. If this is not the case, by following the procedure outlined in the next question, we will be pleased to provide you with a copy of our Franchise Agreement and Disclosure Document.
How do I get started?
Please fill out the Preliminary Application and submit it to to New York New York Franchising, Inc. There is no obligation to invest in a franchise by submitting this form. We will then review your application with you and assist you and answer other questions you may have. Your Disclosure Documents will then be delivered or forwarded for your review. Just remember, the final decision is up to you.
